AF-CADRE presented to Athens City Schools Board
AF-CADRE president presented “Proposal for Disability Services” to Athens City Schools board. On July 27, 2017. You can read the powerpoint presentation from Athens City District’s website.
In that AF-CADRE proposed the needs for behavior intervention by Board Certified Behavior Analyst, which is not currently available. It also proposed sensory rooms in all schools and more aides, more training for teachers and aides, and increased and efficient access to related services, including speech, occupational, physical, and music therapies.
AF-CADRE believes one campus option proposed by Facility Steering Committee is the best to achieve these goals to increase the outcomes of the district’s students with special needs. In the current four elementary schools configurations, resources are stretched too thin that there are not sufficient services available for students. One campus elementary school will allow freeing up money for those services.
